Coffee4Craig

Gordon went back to Coffee4Craig - one of the few services that remained open on the May Bank Holiday Monday, offering a place for the homeless to go to and spend some of their day.

They served juice, crisps and mini croissant and put on some entertainment, such as karaoke, board games, and played Spider-Man. The charity understand what the homeless need - not just a place to sit, but a place to feel a part of, where they can rest and enjoy the atmosphere.

Manchester Observations

  • There are great needs in Manchester and it seems that there is an infrastructure in place which helps with the needs of the homeless should they want it.

  • Gordon's observation is that it’s not that people don’t want to escape the rat race of homelessness, it’s more they don’t think it’s possible for them so their escapism is alcohol and substances. The message of transformation needs to be preached - be praying that when opportunity knocks, the door of change will be walked through.

Gordon's Movements

Homelessness Manchester

As many of the services available to the homeless were closed on the May Bank Holiday, Gordon spent a lot of his time wandering the streets of Manchester to pass time until Coffee4Craig opened.

During his time walking around, he saw a guy who he had previously seen in another homeless service, and also walking the streets harming himself (hitting himself and banging his head against a billboard). He was a lot calmer today, and, later, smiling and dancing - but he was distant. It's a wonder what his story is.
