Gordon's Movements

It's been a quieter couple of days as Gordon had a rest day (day 20) and then travelled to Lisbon (day 21).

Day 20 was Gordon's last day in Berlin where his wife, Joanna, was due to arrive, but unfortunately couldn't travel. So Gordon had a rest night to himself in the Airbnb booked, and ironically, had his worst sleep of the challenge!

The next day, he took a flight to Lisbon, and got a pack of Pringles and a bottle of water from the flight attendant.

Baguette and chickenChicken and rice

Gordon arrived in Lisbon mid afternoon and searched for a late lunch. With money from passively begging in Berlin, he purchased a baguette and some chicken. Later that day, he sat on the pavement and a lady came and gave him some home-cooked chicken and rice - often she makes extra food, packages it up and hands them out to homeless people she passes by (something simple we can all be inspired by!)

Reflections on the challenge

Homeless

Throughout the challenge, Gordon has seen many people on the streets taking it day by day, drinking alcohol and/or abusing substances to get through the day. The sheer level of hopelessness of those in these situations is heartbreaking. Through Gordon's years of experience helping people break the cycle of addiction, he can testify to how easy it can be for people to turn their life around with support and the help of Jesus. However, the most challenging part is getting those in need to have a degree of hope and ability to see a way out.

Be kind to the vulnerable and give them a chance.
